Oh, awesome!!! I am absolutely gleeful at seeing all the classics so beautifully put together - and such an amazing selection of sources!!! - with such a perfect song choice. Yay vid!

Thank you so much. I had a lot of fun hunting down the older source. The song was such a gift, the vid just played in my head the first time I heard it. Thanks for the rec!

O my god, I'm so envious of people who master these kind of multi-source vids. The clipping alone must have taken for ever. But it was worth any second of it, because this is just brilliant, I love the slow progression through the decades, and the great matching of internal motion. Plus, Raumschiff Orion in a vid!!!! How squee-inducing is that?

The clipping process was fairly extensive and some of the aspect ratio juggling was a bit traumatic but it certainly seems to have paid off. I have to admit I'd never heard of Raumschiff Orion until I started my quest for black and white source bur it proved a godsend for the vid.

This is so gorgeous. I found myself alternately dancing and grinning at how amazing this was.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I can't WAIT to get home and watch this!

I hope it's worth the wait. :)

How very pretty! I love watching how easily you move through the quality of the sources, charting the course of these women through the years. The part that tickled me the most was going from Gillian Anderson to Jodie Foster, mostly because of the way that's like an internal joke.

I'm that you felt I handled the quality discrepancy well. It was quite tricky getting the balance of sources right.

This is fantastic vid! What a lovely tribute to the women of the genre.

Thank you. It's great to know that you enjoyed it.

WOW, that's a lot of awesome packed into one vid. I love the song, too!

Thank you!. I absolutely fell in love with this song the first time I heard it.

This is absolutely fantastic!! One of the best vids I've seen in ages, THANK YOU so much! :D :D

Thanks! It means a lot to me that people have responded to this vid so positively.

This needs to be pimped far and wide. What a fantastic video! Technically brilliant, emotionally resonant, great song and clip choices.

Thanks for letting me know how much you enjoyed it.

Fantastic video, as always, but the fact that you included Orion made my day. I grew up with that show! :D (Even it was waaaaay before my time! My dad's a big fan)

The Orion clips seem to be striking a chord. I'm so glad I stumbled across it when I was looking for older source to use.

Magnificent- as always. The song, the cuts, the choices - all simply wonderful.

*applause* Oh man, I love this! Great tribute to the evolution of women in sci-fi and the genre itself.

Thank you for the lovely comment.

OMG! This is so awesome!!! \o/ And you included Raumpatrouille Orion, the Sci-fi show that made me fall in love with Science Fiction. ♥_♥

Thanks! Raumpatrouille Orion looks really interesting even if I did only watch a couple of eps. It seems to have been a very influential show on the continent and it makes me feel very insular to confess to never having heard of it before researching this vid.

The women of sci-fi are the best.

Oh, fuck, you made me cry. I was expecting, I don't know, something more action-y and in the vein of girlpower = women physically kicking ass, and then instead there was this. I admit at the beginning I was thinking "This is not as awesome as I was expecting from a Charmax vid" but then around the shift from b/w to colour, with the cavalcade of space ships, you had me, and somewhere around "momma told me never trust a space engineer", I noticed that my eyes were wet. IDEK. I just. Janeway. And Vansen and Starbuck and Zoe and Rose and Elizabeth and Sarah Connor and Ripley andandand... And then Scully and the Jodie Foster character gazing up into space, and Devon Adair looking out over her new Earth, and Sara Jane at the very end, walking away, the older woman who can truly look back and say "I did." I just love how this is a vid about women dreaming and following their dreams, about women exploring and fighting and loving and discovering the universe and themselves, about women being every kind of person, with every kind of unique and individual and collaborative strength, in space. I love the richness of this tapestry, and the beauty. I love how it says, "Go out and discover. The universe is waiting for you girl, no matter who you are."

Yeah. Still crying. <3<3<3

I'm so glad you stuck with the vid. I was aware that it has kind of a slow start and that the wider message takes a little while to become apparent. It was a very deliberate decision not to just go for women kicking ass in the later section because much as I love Ripley and Starbuck, the likes of Scully and Janeway and Sarah Jane are so important. I really wanted to show not just the bravery of women but also the intelligence and the compassion and the desire to explore.

Will I sound really pathetic if I say that at the end of this vid I was crying? Because I actually was. I was gleeful through most of it - and really came out of my seat happy when you cut to Tegan and Nyssa!--and then, you know, by the end I had tears in my eyes. You got so many things out of that "I did" (I am off to buy that song RIGHT NOW; what a brilliant song!) And by the end, you know, where the women are a little older and a little more triumphant in their "I-didness" I just got all teary. You vidded our lives! ALL OUR LIVES. Thank you x 1,000,000. I love it to pieces.

Thank you so much. I think that must be the most perfect reaction to this vid. It has been such a relief to see that the vid has touched people it was a really personal project and I worried a little that I hadn't so much vidded all our lives as just mine.

The song is just wonderful and offered me so much to hang the vid off.

thanks so much for the rec.

Wow! Gorgeous and clever and so seamless! This is amazing!

Thanks, it makes me so happy to know you enjoyed it.

Wow. Just wow. I've recced it to some friends, who are reccing it to friends, now I want to go back and watch it again.

Thanks for spreading the word and thanks for letting me know how much you enjoyed the vid.

Hell yes.

And you included Raumpatrouille \o/. And Janeway, and Scully! And Ellie from Contact (love this movie so much!) This vid's like... a hyperspace trip down memory lane. :)

Thanks! I just wish I'd thought of " a hyperspace trip down memory lane" as the tag line for the vid!

I cannot textually render my love for this vid.

Oh wow, this is gorgeous!

Oaky. BEST THING EVER!!!! Yes, it deserves the capslock squee. To show all these kickbutt women in a kickbutt video? Awesome!

Thanks for the comment.
